From Amazon :
Professor and former crime reporter, Kary Turnell, sets sail on an Arctic adventure cruise aboard the MS EXPLORER. While the passengers are preoccupied with the shimmering spectacle of the Northern Lights and daunting vistas of Baffin Island, one individual seizes the opportunity for murder. The clues are few and the trail is rapidly growing cold as Kary and a hastily assembled team of volunteer investigators tries to reveal who pushed a guest into the frigid water below. Can Kary solve another resort caper before the floating crime scene docks at the next port, while attempting to regain the trust of a daughter who seems determined to make him pay for past mistakes? "Mark Okrant's new mystery has as many levels as the MS EXPLORER ‐‐ the ill‐fated expedition vessel aboard which the plot unfolds. As we follow Professor Kary Turnell through the twists and turns of his sleuthing, we are treated to a virtual Arctic eco‐tour, complete with Inuit artists. -- Download PDF file of the newsletter

Marrying Murder with Tourism: An Interview with Mark Okrant

The Cog Railway, the Kancamagus Highway, the Flume Gorge at Franconia Notch – these are just a few sites scattered about the state which radiate the spirit of New Hampshire. Their charm is pure and pastoral, simple and natural, like so much of the natural landscape we are surrounded by here. Perhaps their names echo in a past memory of yours, a childhood trip up to the tip of Mount Washington, or a scenic drive over the infinite and omniscient crest of the Kanc.

Hopefully you've had your fair share of the natural and breathtaking sustenance that the many tourist sites in New Hampshire have to offer us. They're what draw us to the state and what keep us here. They're always what remind us of what we love about this place – that there are still a few sanctuaries left in this chaotic, industry-centered world of ours. read more...

Mark your calendars! Author Mark Okrantand his daughter, Robyn Okrant, will be signing copies of their newest books at Plymouth Book Exchange (NH) on July 14th, 2010! Stop by the store to hear the father-daughter author team talk about their books and grab your signed copy!

Plymouth State University Professor of Tourism Management and Director of the Institute for New Hampshire Studies Mark Okrant will be signing his recently released "An Icy Reception," the third book in his Kary Turnell mystery series. Turnell, a “fifty-something college professor and former crime reporter…endeavors to repair relationships he’s damaged with family and friends while being drawn – at times reluctantly – into murder investigations at historic resort properties.” His latest adventure takes him on a cruise ship in the Arctic Ocean; a project Mark calls “a labor of love on a number of levels,” as it involved nearly forty years of research.

Robyn Okrant, an “average 35-year-old woman" in Chicago, embarked on a unique one-year mission: to live every aspect of her life as Oprah Winfrey directed. Why? Robyn recognized that of all the cultural influences on American women, Oprah’s is perhaps the single most prevalent one, and she wanted to put it to the test herself. After a year of blogging, Robyn reveals the hilarious, poignant, frustrating and surprising results of her social experiment in a new book: ‘Living Oprah: My One-Year Experiment to Walk the Walk of the Queen of Talk.’” Since the year’s end, Robyn has appeared on the Today Show, CNBC’s The Oprah Effect, The Bonnie Hunt Show, Fox and Friends, The Joy Behar Show, Good Day L.A., and NPR’s All Things Considered. She’s also been featured in the New York Times, People Magazine, USA Today, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago SunTimes, Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide, Salon.com, and The Huffington Post.

Both titles, including the other two books of the Kary Turnell series and past publications of Mark's are all available for purchase at PBE. For further information about the books, authors, or signing check out:
