Okrant’s previously published full length Turnell novels, I KNEW YOU WHEN and A LAST RESORT, and AN ICY RECEPTION, as well as his just-released short story, MURDER WITH A VIEW, are now available for download at Amazon.com. For a limited time, A LAST RESORT, I KNEW YOU WHEN, and MURDER WITH A VIEW will have a $0.99 price tag, and AN ICY RECEPTION will be $2.99. Audiobook versions of these titles are currently in production (for release in late 2011).
Mark Okrant is the author of two other books: JUDSON’S ISLAND, a murder mystery set along the Maine coast (also available on Kindle) and SLEEPING ALONGSIDE THE ROAD, a retrospective on the American motel industry (second edition to be released Fall 2012). Okrant is professor of tourism management and director of the Institute for New Hampshire Studies at Plymouth State University. He has coordinated tourism research for the State of New Hampshire since 1990, conducted tourism assessments in Aleut and Yupik communities in Alaska, and has presented workshops in Alaska, Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Sweden, and Romania. Mark was nominated to the International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism, is past president of the Travel and Tourism Research Association, and past president of the New England-St. Lawrence Valley Geographical Society. He has been a resident of Plymouth, New Hampshire for more than 30 years.

The Cog Railway, the Kancamagus Highway, the Flume Gorge at Franconia Notch – these are just a few sites scattered about the state which radiate the spirit of New Hampshire. Their charm is pure and pastoral, simple and natural, like so much of the natural landscape we are surrounded by here. Perhaps their names echo in a past memory of yours, a childhood trip up to the tip of Mount Washington, or a scenic drive over the infinite and omniscient crest of the Kanc.
Hopefully you've had your fair share of the natural and breathtaking sustenance that the many tourist sites in New Hampshire have to offer us. They're what draw us to the state and what keep us here. They're always what remind us of what we love about this place – that there are still a few sanctuaries left in this chaotic, industry-centered world of ours. read more...

 Mark Okrant is well-know as a professor at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. Mark has been active in the tourism research community since the mid-1970's and served as the TTRA President from 2000-2001. This TTRA member, however, has an alter ego: crimesolver Kary Turnell, the protagonist of a series of novels created by Mark. The third novel in the series, An Icy Reception was recently released.

Plymouth State University Professor of Tourism Management and Director of the Institute for New Hampshire Studies Mark Okrant will be signing his recently released "An Icy Reception," the third book in his Kary Turnell mystery series. Turnell, a “fifty-something college professor and former crime reporter…endeavors to repair relationships he’s damaged with family and friends while being drawn – at times reluctantly – into murder investigations at historic resort properties.” His latest adventure takes him on a cruise ship in the Arctic Ocean; a project Mark calls “a labor of love on a number of levels,” as it involved nearly forty years of research.
Robyn Okrant, an “average 35-year-old woman" in Chicago, embarked on a unique one-year mission: to live every aspect of her life as Oprah Winfrey directed. Why? Robyn recognized that of all the cultural influences on American women, Oprah’s is perhaps the single most prevalent one, and she wanted to put it to the test herself.
